Seung Won Lee

Hello! I am a Ph.D student at the Design Informatics Lab (DILAB) specializing in AI in Design and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). My passion lies in creating interactive design systems that support and amplify designers' creativity.
Specifically, My research focuses on 1) Analyzing design processes through protocol analysis; 2) Interpreting diverse user modalities (e.g., eye-gazing, prompting, and sketching) to understand user intention; and 3) Developing computational design support methodology.

Design Works

Concrete Speaker Part 1
Concrete Speaker Part 1 is an omni-directional speaker based on acoustic performance optimization techniques and sand based 3D printing. Additionally, it incorporates an ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) mix. Through the fusion of these technologies, we were able to transform its traditionally rigid and non-fluid perception to be more dynamic and versatile.

Concrete Speaker Part 2
Concrete Speaker Part 2 aims to go beyond Part 1 by actively utilizing cutting-edge technologies like 3D milling and 3D printing to push the boundaries of what's possible with concrete. To achieve this, we adopted a sphere-shaped design and combined concrete with a unique metal design. This approach challenges conventional thoughts on materials and ventures into an out-of-the-box design approach.

Jeongdok Library
Constructed in 1938 as the Gyeonggi High School, the Jeongdok Library was later repurposed by the Seoul Government in 1977. Despite its historical value, it has challenges like high fences and constricted spaces. Our "weaving" design concept aims to address these without compromising the original architecture. Our goal is to enhance city flow and mode.
